New (advanced) features

Thanks to the first experiences and numerous feedbacks from our users, we wanted to write a user guide for our hirers and present you the functioning of our platform in more details.  user guide private hirers

If you are not familiar with the terms km/day allowance, verified renters,  personalized prices, min/max rental duration, etc. you might probably learn one thing or two.

All the management of your ads is done from your user account. This is your single access point for:

  • Validating/declining a booking request;
  • Chat with the renter(s);
  • Ad new listing;
  • Update your current listing, etc..

However, we have introduced new functions to give you more autonomy in managing your vehicles. And don’t forget, when you make a modification, to click on “update” to save the new information.

Verified renters

Currently, and to streamline transactions, an interested renter can make a booking request before being verified. Why? This way, the owner can already clarify his availability, and at the same time the renter can upload his documents in the system. Verified renters have a ✅ next to their username.
In all cases, if the renter does not meet the requirements (25 years and 3 years license), there is NO rental. Because otherwise, our insurance would not cover damage.

Booking status

When you receive a booking request, you have 24 hours to confirm it. Without action on your part, the system will cancel the request and the renter will have to make a new request. Also, be reactive and don’t let your chance pass. A fluid communication with the renter is also a guarantee of trust.

At the same time, the renter will have to have his profile verified by uploading the documents. Once this step is completed, the system will indicate the reservation as successful. You can then make an appointment with the owner.

So before setting an appointment and blocking time for the key hand over of the keys, make sure that the reservation is effective: the status must change from “processing” to “booked“.

So in a nutshell, how does a typical booking process look like on Cruizador.

Have a look at our infographics -> here <-

Calendar availability

You can block dates in the calendar, e.g. when your vehicle is not available (garage service), when you need the bike for test drives (open day at your dealership) or when you use it for a longer period (e.g. road trip). Click on the date in the calendar tab to block, and click again to unblock. And don’t forget to save your changes. user-guide-owner

Featured listing

You have the possibility (for an extra-charge of 35CHF for 14 days), to put your listing in the spotlight. It will appear at the top of our home page, as well as in search results. You will therefore gain visibility and traffic to your ad. user-guide-owner

Minimal and maximal rental duration

The minimum rental period is 24 hours. We do not want to make hourly rentals, which would be too restrictive for users. Indeed, do you want to fill out the contracts, inspect the vehicle, etc. for a 2-hours rental?

However, you can indicate a higher minimum duration (for example min 2d), but be careful because a too long minimum duration could be an obstacle for the prospective renters.

In addition, you can indicate a maximum reservation duration, if you do not wish to part with your vehicle beyond a certain duration (eg max 7 days). Please also note, a too short maximum duration could be a deal breaker for prospective renters. And keep in mind that a longer rental means more money for you and no additional work 🙂

Minimum Duration CruizadorLong term pricing

We also offer the possibility of making long-term pricing, 7+ days, and 30+ days and more. Even if it is optional, this function encourages prospective renters to rent longer. And a longer booking means more money and no additional work 😉

Accessory rental

Until now, the rental of the equipment (helmet, gloves, etc.) was done at the goodwill of each hirer, on a mostly free basis. But since 2022, they now have the possibility of renting out equipment and setting the price per item themselves. How to do that?

  1. Log in and go to the dashboard (tab my listing)
  2. Click on edit to your listing (?)
  3. In the details of your listing, you have now a new section to add equipment and set up the price.

You can currently rent out 6 types of accessories/equipment: Helmet, gloves, jacket, pants, GPS, side/top cases

  • If you have nothing to rent out: leave the fields empty
  • If you want to offer the item for free: put 0
  • If you want to offer it at an additional cost: enter a number

user guide private hirers

So yes, in this period of pandemic, some will be resistant to the idea of making their helmets available, for example. But why not buy an additional one, even a cheap one, to give weight to your ad? And no need to buy a Shoei or an Arai.

In any case, this option remains optional, but it will give weight to your ad. Insofar as a considerable number of tenants do not / no longer have all the necessary equipment. And it will allow you to generate additional income. It’s win-win 🙂 !

Cancellation policy

Please bear in mind that a cancellation represents an inconvenience for the renters. However, we understand that unexpected event can occur (technical problem with the bike e.g.).

How to cancel? Log into your account and cancel directly in your profile (my bookings tab). Detailed infos about cancellation policy

For the renters, we have implemented a differentiated cancellation policy. The choice of policy is left to the goodwill of each owner. And the applicable policy will be indicated on each listing.

  • Flexible policy: free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure
  • Moderate: first day will be charged in case of cancellation
  • Strict policy: 100% of the reservation charged in case of cancellation

Flexible conditions are applied by default. However, you can change them directly in the details of your ad. And the cancellation conditions will be indicated in the booking details, to avoid any dispute.

However, keep in mind that a strict cancellation policy can be a drag for potential renters. Since motorcycling is strongly linked to the weather, flexible conditions will reassure those interested in renting your vehicle.

Evaluation of the renter upon return of the vehicle

The dynamic of our community is based on peer reviews, both from renters and owners. Thus, we believe that respectful and punctual renter should be rewarded. And the others sanctioned with a bad grade.

Your review may also help other potential owners who might rent out their bike to this particular renter (punctuality, communication, cleanliness, etc.). How to proceed?

  1. Log in
  2. Click on the booking (tab my bookings)
  3. Click on the pen (✏️)
  4. Leave a review
  5. Save

It’s done!

  2. Click on the reservation detail
  3. Click on the “report problem” button

You will then be asked to fill out a form to describe the problem.

Rental conditions

Rental conditions, such as km allowance, cancellation policy, etc. are indicated in the details of each rental. This is to avoid any disputes from renters, such as “I didn’t know that you had set a km/day allowance, I thought it was unlimited”.

They also appear in the details of each listing under the heading “rental conditions” and the main ones are indicated at the top of the listing.

Motorbike for sale

Is your vehicle for sale? Take advantage of our platform to allow interested buyers to test drive it in real conditions. When registering, you can enter:

  1. The desired selling price
  2. The nb of km on the odometer
  3. If you are willing to offer the rental in the event of an outright purchase by the renter (max. 2 days).

user guide private hirers

And even if this commercial gesture is at the discretion of the hirers, it can certainly give your listing more attractiveness.

Please note, however, that we cannot give away the Cruizador service fees. Indeed, we must a.o. insure your vehicle, regardless of whether it is finally sold or not.

Finally, we remind you that your vehicle must be registered to be rented on our platform.

Renting out using your own insurance

Hirers have the choice of renting out their vehicle either

  • By subscribing to Cruizador’s insurance
  • By using their own insurance

user guide private hirers

And in each listing, it will be clearly indicated which insurance is offered for that specific vehicle.

What’s the advantage of renting using your own insurance? Reduced transaction fees for our hirers. More on this below.

Transaction fees

Here at Cruizador, we are all about transparency!

So this visual sums up the hirers’ transaction fees. And of course, for each of your rental, you’ll see in the details of your booking, how much you will cash in. So no bad surprises for you.

Please note that for professional hirers, we have a special pricing. Please contact us to know more about it.

user guide private hirers

This commission covers the development of the platform, the marketing costs, as well as the technical support, the management of the claims if necessary, etc.

Our aim is to reduce hirers’ transaction costs.

However, if we want to continue to invest in the development of our ecosystem, while covering our costs and ensuring the same quality of support, our room for manoeuvre is limited. But we are continuing to work in this direction.

However, we have done a rentability calculation for you. Did you know that with Cruizador, from 13 rentals per year, you have covered ALL your ownership costs?

Also, your motorcycle not only costs you nothing, but also brings you a net passive income. Learn more here.

So what if you turned your motorcycle into a profitable side hustle

Super Owner

Since we have launched the service in 2018, we have found that a core group of our owners provide a high quality service. Indeed, thanks to their responsiveness and flexibility, renters looking for a bike have an outstanding rental experience

These owners provide a safe and positive experience for each renter, while contributing to the smooth running of operations. And therefore, they deserve to be rewarded for their efforts and will thus enjoy reduced transaction fees. See above for more info. But as a recap:

  • 30 to 25% for daily prices above 60 CHF
  • 20 to 15% for daily prices below CHF 60
  • 15 to 10% for professional hirers (dealerships a.o.)

How to obtain the super hirer status?

In order to obtain or maintain the status of Super Hirer, an owner must meet the following criteria:

  • Commitment rate: ≥ 90%
  • Acceptance rate: high (≥ 70%)
  • Five star ratings:  ≥ 90%
  • Minimum 4 completed bookings on all listings, including deleted listings.
  • Account must be open and free of active policy violations.
And concretely, in the details of the owner’s profile, the quality label will be indicated and renters will therefore know that they can expect an outstanding service.

Payment of your rentals

Once you have successfully made your first rental, we will send you an email asking you for some additional information, such as

  • Plate number and registration number of your vehicle (pt 18 on the vehicle registration document). This information is treated confidentially and shared only with our insurer, for premium calculation purposes.
  • Bank details (IBAN + name of bank)

Once we have this information, we can proceed with the bank transfer of your rental income(s).

And for future payments, we will always use the same bank details. So remember to inform us of any change of bank, for example.

Please note that payments are made every week, every Thursday.

Well, we hope you’ve learned a few tricks and that you will find these new features to be helpful.

And remember to read our tips and tricks on how to earn new rental requests.
