Who can rent on Cruizador?
At the moment, we ask that the prospective renters are min 25 yo and have a valid motorcycle endorsement for at least 3 years (category has to match with the category of the vehicle rented). Mainly for insurance purposes but also to build up trust among the owners.
For foreign renters, we ask them to give a proof of residence (electricity/gaz/phone bill e.g.).
Why do I have to provide my credit card information upfront?
We only store your credit card information. Like any rental service, we charge you upon return of the vehicle, providing the booking is effective. However, due to numerous false or unqualified requests, i.e. renters who do not respect the rental conditions, we kindly ask you to enter your credit card information so that we can be sure you are a serious renter and that you are entitled to rent on Cruizador.com
What kind of vehicle can be rented out on Cruizador?
All the two-wheelers respectively motorcycles 125cc and above or electric, registered in Switzerland, can be rented out on the platform. This is as simple as that. The age respectively the emission date of your driving license of the owner are not relevant to rent out on Cruizador.

What about the equipment?
As mentioned in our general conditions, it is the renter who is responsible for showing up with the regulatory equipment (approved helmet, jacket, gloves, etc.). However, the owners can optionally make this equipment available. If this option is done complementary by the owner, it will undeniably have a positive impact on the attractiveness of your ad. Indeed, some bikers resell their motorcycle and the equipment that goes with it for family or professional reasons. And they will probably not buy all the equipment for one or two rentals a year. Consequently, it’s an additional selling point for your ad if you can provide the basic equipment.
How does the payment work?
The online payment provider Stripe takes care of the payment processing. Stripe is a well known service provider and guarantees a very high level of security. Payment takes place only via their server. The data is encrypted and transmitted via secure protocols. More info here
What are the transaction fees?
Transaction fees are indicated as of Jan 2020 and may vary, depending on the volume of transactions.
For renters: they are indicated during the check-out.
For private owners: we have two different fees:
- When the avg. rental price/day is below or equal to 60CHF, we take 20%
- When the avg. rental price is above, we take 30%
For professionals renters (dealers, garages, etc.) we have a different pricing (with optional add-ons), depending e.g. on whether you use your own insurance or use Cruizador’s insurance. Contact us to know more.
I am the owner and I received a ticket. Though I was not driving at the time of the violation. What happens?
Before handing over the keys to your vehicle, we ask you, among other things, to check the renter’s driving license and have him/her sign a rental contract (standard document provided by Cruizador and available in your account).
This document will contractually oblige the renter to comply with the regulations in force and will make him responsible for the penal and financial consequences of his/her acts. These documents being dated and signed, we will be able to prove which person was driving which vehicle at a specific time. Also, Cruizador will transmit all these documents with the greatest diligence to the competent authorities.
Why can I pay only by credit card?
Currently, we only allow credit card payments. This is because we have to block a deposit corresponding to the amount of the insurance deductible. For practical and security reasons, we do not want our users to walk around with a large amount of cash and leave it as a deposit with the owner.
Can I make changes to a pending reservation request?
No currently, it is not possible to modify a reservation. You have to cancel it and make a new one. How? You can cancel directly from your user account. But beware of the cancellation policy (here)
Can I cancel a reservation request?
Yes, you can cancel a reservation request. However, please read our cancellation policy. Either in our general conditions or directly on the platform (here).
How do I check the status of my reservation?
When doing a booking request, the owner has 24 hours maximum to validate the request or to refuse it. In any case, for each status change, you will automatically receive a notification by e-mail, the same you use to register on the platform.
How do I find my reservation?
All your bookings, current or previous, are available directly in your profile. Log into your account to check.
When am I charged for a reservation?
You are not billed until the end of the reservation.
At the latest 24 hours before picking up the vehicle, we just make a pre-authorisation on the credit card, in order to block the deposit. Make sure you have a sufficient limit on your credit card.
When returning the vehicle, you make an inspection of the vehicle (no damage), check the number of kilometers traveled (if applicable), that there is no time overrun and that everything is in order.
Once we have received this information, we will charge your credit card for the corresponding amount.
How does a meeting with the owner look like (handing over the key)?
Once the credit card has been authorized, Cruizador puts the renter and the owner in contact. These fix a place and an appointment time according to their convenience/availability. During this appointment, the owner and the tenant will:
- Make a vehicle inspection tour and fill in the form (document provided by Cruizador)
- Sign the rental contract
- Briefly review the specifics of the bike
- Hand over the keys and documents (e.g. copy of the registration card).
To guide you, Cruizador provides you with a checklist, available in your user account (in the documents tab).
As an owner, can I delegate the key handover to a third person?
We recommend that the owners hand over the keys in person. This will facilitate the procedure, the inspection of the condition of the motorcycle and the explanation of its operation. However, sometimes something unexpected can prevent them. Also, you have the option of delegating to a trusted third person, provided that the inspection contracts/forms have been previously completed, dated and signed by the owner in person and that the third person respects the key delivery procedure . She will be able to find her way through our checklist (available in the dashboard, in the documents tab).

What about the Km/Day allowance?
Some owners offer an unlimited number of km/day. Others set a km/day package (e.g. 300 km/day). This mention is clearly indicated in the description of the motorcycle. When there is a km/day package, each additional km is charged on a flat rate basis of CHF 0.3/km.
What happens if the owner cancels my reservation?
An imponderable can always happen, for professional or private reasons. The vehicle may also be under repair or defective, for example.
Upon cancellation by an owner, no amount will be charged from your credit card. In addition, Cruizador support will do their best to find an alternative.
Why do you block a deposit and how does it work?
As with any traditional rental, Cruizador blocks a deposit corresponding to the deductible fixed by the insurance. If the renter returns the vehicle without damage, the deposit is released upon confirmation from the owner (within a maximum of 48 hours from the first working day, see general conditions)
Road violation and material damages
I am a renter and I have committed a material damage. What will happen?
It is better to inform the owner directly and at the latest when you return the motorcycle. He/she will inform Cruizador who will manage the claim with the insurance. The insurance company will assess the amount of damage and make the repair. If the amount exceeds the amount of the deposit, the entire deposit will be retained.
If the amount is lower, only the difference between the repair costs and the deposit will be returned to the tenant.
Ex. 1: Repair costs are 550 CHF. Cruizador will return 450 CHF (1000 – 550) to the renter.
Ex. 2: Repair costs are 1,550 CHF. Cruizador keeps the entire deposit (1000CHF) and the remaining 550CHF is paid by the insurance.

What about the risk of theft?
When registering your motorcycle, Cruizador recommends that you do not give your exact address (just the neighborhood or a nearby point of interest), precisely to prevent malicious people from using the platform to target vehicles to steal.
Also be careful that your plate number is not seen on the photos in your ad.
In addition, we recommend that owners set up an appointment in a place other than their home (e.g. the Migros/Coop parking lot, a gas or a train station, etc.) in order to avoid also this scenario.
What about the insurance coverage?
For private owners:
During the entire duration of the rental and provided that the rental is made via the Cruizador platform, the motorcycle is insured – comprehensive cover – by Cruizador’s partner insurance which is Helvetia Insurance Company SA (more info here).

How about the accident coverage?
Accident insurance is the renter’s responsibility. In Switzerland, people are most often insured against accidents by their employer.
Professional accident insurance generally also covers personal accidents. If you are self- or unemployed, it is strongly advised to subscribe to an accident insurance with your health insurance.
However, we are working with our partner, in order to be able to offer an optional accident coverage, that you can subscribe during the booking process (opt-in).
